In the framwork of Nikkei Asian Review Forum oganized
recently in Vietnam, Shosuke Mori, Executive Vice President, Sumitomo Mitsui's
International Banking Unit, said that Vietnam had a impressive economic growth
rate in the past 20 years, was one of the few countries in the ASEAN region
that achieved a growth rate of over 5% in recent years. In addition, the World
Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasted that Vietnam's GDP per capita wouldl reach US$
3,350 by 2017 and US$ 3,500 by next years.
